Residence in Deftera (A & E)

Project Overview

Residence in Deftera (A & E)

Residence in Deftera (A & E) is a modern architectural composition set on a 2,000 sq.m. plot, combining functionality with refined aesthetics.

The project was designed by IMA Architectural Studios – Ierides & Michael Architects, with an architectural approach that emphasises clarity, openness and a strong connection with the surrounding greenery.

The residence accommodates three bedrooms on the ground floor, while the main living areas unfold within a striking double-height volume.

An impressive mezzanine dominates the overall volumetric composition, adding depth, spatial interest and architectural character to the interior.

Floor-to-ceiling glazing along the living spaces allows natural light to flood the interior, while opening views toward the surrounding landscape.

Above the primary volumes, a unifying roof plane appears to float lightly over the structure, reinforcing the architectural coherence of the design.

The mixed construction combines metal, glass, concrete and brick, creating a residence with modern character, elegance and dynamic presence.

Design Approach

The design approach of the residence is based on the creation of a modern architectural composition that combines functionality, elegance and a strong spatial identity.

The residence is set on a 2,000 sq.m. plot, allowing the architecture to develop with openness and a direct relationship to the surrounding greenery.

The main living areas are organised within a double-height volume, creating a sense of openness, light and architectural impact. The mezzanine becomes a key spatial element, enriching the interior and strengthening the overall volumetric composition.

Floor-to-ceiling glazing is used along the living spaces to maximise natural light and frame views toward the surrounding landscape, enhancing the connection between the interior and the outdoor environment.

A unifying roof plane floats above the primary volumes, giving coherence to the composition and reinforcing the contemporary character of the residence.

The combination of metal, glass, concrete and brick creates a balanced material palette, giving the project strength, elegance and a dynamic modern presence.
